Patrick Arundell Astrology Store is operated by Astrology Enterprises Limited ("Patrick Arundell Astrology", "we", "us" or "our"). We operate this store and website, including the related information, content, features, tools, products and services (the "Services"). The store is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, retain and disclose personal information when you visit or use the Services, buy or enquire about a product or service, join a mailing list, or otherwise communicate with us. If there is a conflict between our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy about the collection, processing or disclosure of personal information, this Privacy Policy controls.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the practices described here.

For the purposes of applicable data-protection law, the controller is:
• Legal controller: Astrology Enterprises Limited
• Trading as: Patrick Arundell Astrology Store
• Correspondence address: NRA Arrow Mill, Queensway, Rochdale, Lancashire, OL11 2YW
• Privacy email: mail@patrickarundell.com
Personal information we collect
"Personal information" means information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you or another person. It does not include information that has been anonymised or de-identified so that it can no longer reasonably be linked to an individual.
Depending on how you interact with the Services, we may collect:
• Contact and account information, including your name, email address, telephone number, username, account preferences, billing address, delivery address and country or time zone.
• Order and transaction information, including products and services viewed, placed in a basket or purchased; order history; discounts; returns, cancellations and payment confirmation.
• Astrology birth information, including a person's name, birth date, birth time, birth town or city, county or state, country and preferred house system.
• Reading and consultation information, including questions, areas of interest, relevant background, people or places involved, appointment preferences, chosen reader, delivery format, communication requirements and recording preference.
• Relationship and third-party information, including another person's name and birth information where it is necessary for a relationship or compatibility service and you confirm that you have permission to provide it.
• Child-related information, including a child's name and birth information where an adult orders a child-specific report and confirms that they are the parent, guardian or otherwise authorised to provide it.
• Gift information, including a recipient's name and email address, a gift message and a requested delivery date.
• Communications, including information you provide in enquiries, customer-support requests, corrections, complaints and other messages.
• Marketing information, including your email address, subscription status, consent record, mailing-list interactions and communication preferences.
• Device and usage information, including information about your device, browser, network connection, IP address, cookies and similar technologies, approximate location, and how and when you interact with the Services.
• Payment information processed by Shopify and the payment provider shown at checkout, including the payment method, payment status and transaction details. We do not ask you to enter payment-card details into product, basket, contact or reading-preparation forms, and we do not receive the full card number used at checkout.
Please provide only the information reasonably needed for the requested service. Do not send passwords, identity documents, payment-card data, medical records or unnecessary confidential information.
Nature of readings and reports
For entertainment purposes only. These readings do not in any way constitute or replace professional legal, financial, medical, or other advice. This applies to astrology, tarot, psychic, spiritual and related readings and reports. If you require professional advice, contact an appropriately qualified professional. Do not delay seeking professional or emergency assistance because of anything contained in a reading, report or consultation.
This statement explains the nature and intended use of the Services. It does not exclude or restrict any consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
How we collect personal information
We may collect personal information:
• directly from you when you browse the store, create or use an account, complete a product or basket form, place an order, submit an enquiry, join a mailing list or communicate with us;
• automatically from your device through Shopify, cookies, pixels and similar technologies when you use the Services;
• from Shopify, payment providers and other service providers acting for us;
• from an adult purchaser who is authorised to provide another person's information for the requested service; and
• from business, marketing or technology partners where permitted by law.
How we use personal information
Depending on how you interact with us, we may use personal information to:
• provide, personalise, prepare, schedule and deliver the product or service you request;
• calculate a chart and prepare a report, reading or consultation from the details supplied;
• process payments, orders, returns, cancellations and other transactions;
• maintain accounts and remember preferences;
• assign the minimum necessary information to the reader preparing or delivering your service;
• deliver a requested gift or optional recording;
• send order, account, service, correction and customer-support communications;
• respond to enquiries, complaints and requests to exercise privacy rights;
• prevent fraud, misuse, security incidents and other harmful or unlawful activity;
• maintain records needed for accounting, tax, disputes, insurance and legal compliance;
• understand and improve the store and Services where permitted; and
• send basket reminders, membership news, astrology updates and related marketing only where we have an appropriate legal basis, including consent where required.
We do not add you to marketing merely because you enter an email address needed to prepare or deliver a product. Where you subscribe, you can withdraw your consent or unsubscribe at any time using the link in a marketing email.
Legal bases
Where UK or European data-protection law applies, our legal bases may include:
• Contract, where processing is necessary to take steps at your request or provide a product or service you purchased.
• Legal obligation, where we must retain or disclose information to comply with law, tax, accounting or valid legal process.
• Legitimate interests, where necessary to operate, support, secure and improve the business, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
• Consent, including for optional marketing and any other processing for which consent is required. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
The appropriate legal basis depends on the particular information and context. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the purpose, necessity and impact of the processing before proceeding. Where consent is required, we will ask for it separately and make it possible to withdraw that consent.
Readers and service providers
The reader selected for an order receives only the information reasonably necessary to prepare, arrange and deliver that service. Readers must keep the information confidential, use it only for fulfilment and support, avoid unnecessary copies, and follow the store's access and deletion procedures.
We also use service providers where necessary, including:
• Shopify, which hosts the storefront, customer accounts, checkout and order/customer records and, when used, records marketing consent and provides Shopify Messaging;
• Shopify Payments and PayPal, where selected at checkout, which process payments. Shopify Payments may use Stripe technology and banking partners to provide payment processing;
• Sendy operated through Zest Mail Services, which processes opted-in membership and marketing email subscriptions;
• Zoom, where used to arrange or deliver appointments;
• TransferNow, where used to deliver an optional recording;
• YouTube, operated by Google, where an introduction video is embedded from YouTube. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed domain and require you to choose to load the external player before it connects to YouTube or Google;
• Vimeo, only where an introduction video is embedded from Vimeo and you choose to load the external player;
• Shopify-hosted applications or other service providers that we enable for a stated store function. We review their access before activation and update this policy when a new provider materially changes how personal information is used or disclosed; and
• professional advisers, insurers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or other parties where disclosure is necessary and lawful.
These recipients process information under their own terms, privacy notices and data-processing arrangements. We may also disclose information:
• when you direct or consent to the disclosure;
• in connection with a sale, merger, restructuring, insolvency or other business transaction;
• to comply with a legal obligation, court order or valid governmental request; or
• to establish, exercise or defend legal rights and protect the Services, our customers or others.
We do not sell your reading-preparation information or provide it to unrelated parties for their own purposes.
Shopify platform processing and personalised services
The Services are hosted by Shopify. Shopify collects and processes personal information about access to and use of the Services in order to provide and improve the Shopify platform. Information submitted through the Services is transmitted to Shopify and may be shared with Shopify service providers in countries other than the country where you live.
Where enabled, Shopify enhanced services may use information about your interactions with this store, other merchants and Shopify to protect, personalise, grow and improve the Services. In those circumstances, Shopify is responsible for certain processing and for responding to requests relating to that processing.
You can learn more in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy (https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy/app-users) and exercise relevant rights through the Shopify Privacy Portal (https://privacy.shopify.com/).
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or its use for targeted advertising. You can use the store's data-sharing opt-out page (/pages/data-sharing-opt-out). If you visit with the Global Privacy Control signal enabled, Shopify may treat that signal as an opt-out request for the relevant browser or device and, where it can associate the signal with a Shopify account, for that account.
Marketing communications
We may use Shopify Messaging and Sendy operated through Zest Mail Services for consented marketing communications. An unsubscribe or other withdrawal of marketing consent applies to marketing from us regardless of which delivery system is used. We update or suppress the address in each active marketing system as necessary to honour that choice and retain a minimal suppression record where needed to prevent accidental re-subscription.
You may unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email or contact us using the privacy email above. If you opt out of marketing, we may still send non-promotional communications needed to provide a purchased service, administer an account, respond to you or comply with law.
Children and child-related reports
The Services are not intended for children to purchase or use independently. However, an adult parent, guardian or other authorised person may order a child-specific report and provide the child's name and birth information for that purpose.
The adult purchaser must have authority to provide the child's information. We use it only to prepare, deliver and support the requested service, retain it only as described in this policy, and do not use the child's information for marketing. If you believe a child has provided information without appropriate adult involvement or that information was provided without authority, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Optional recordings
A live-session recording is made only when you request or confirm that option. The assigned reader keeps the recording on a secured device only while it is prepared and privately delivered.
Subject to any legal requirement or active dispute, the reader's local working copy is deleted after you confirm receipt, or no later than 14 days after delivery if no confirmation is received. A recording delivered through TransferNow is configured to expire or be deleted no later than 30 days after delivery.
We do not use a recording for testimonials, advertising, training or another unrelated purpose without separate, explicit permission.
Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including fulfilment, support, legal obligations, accounting, tax, fraud prevention and documented disputes. The period depends on the information, why it was collected, the systems in which it is stored and any applicable legal requirement.
Our intended operational periods include:
• reader working copies of birth information, questions and service context: deleted after fulfilment and any necessary correction/support period, with a target maximum of 90 days after fulfilment;
• optional recordings: handled under the shorter periods described in the Optional recordings section;
• marketing subscription records: retained until you unsubscribe or the list is retired, with a minimal suppression record retained where necessary to honour the opt-out;
• enquiries and support correspondence: retained only while reasonably needed to respond, manage follow-up and handle disputes; and
• transaction, accounting and tax records: retained for the period required by applicable law.
Preparation details may be attached to a Shopify order as line-item properties. Shopify order records can require longer retention for transaction, tax, fraud, chargeback or legal purposes. We restrict access, avoid creating unnecessary separate copies and delete or anonymise information when it is no longer required and the platform permits us to do so. If an order record must be retained, we may be unable to remove every field immediately, but we will restrict its use to the applicable retention purpose and respond to privacy requests in accordance with the law.
Security
We use proportionate technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information, including restricted access and individual staff accounts. No security measure is perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Information sent through an insecure channel might be intercepted, so please use the designated store forms and do not send unnecessary sensitive or confidential material.
You are responsible for protecting any account credentials and should not share passwords or access codes with others.
Cookies and similar technologies
Shopify and approved services use cookies and similar technologies to operate, secure, personalise and measure the Services. Where required, non-essential analytics, advertising or personalisation technologies are used only after the appropriate choice or consent.
You can use the cookie/privacy controls displayed on the store and your browser settings to manage available choices. The Shopify cookie banner governs Shopify-specific technologies. If a third-party service sets its own cookies, its use must also be disclosed and configured to respect the applicable consent choices.
Videos uploaded directly to Shopify are delivered as part of the Shopify storefront. Where we offer an external YouTube or Vimeo video, the external player is not loaded automatically: you must choose to load it. Loading or playing an external video connects your browser to that provider and may disclose technical information such as your IP address, device or browser information and the page you visited. The provider may also use cookies or similar technologies in accordance with its own privacy notice. YouTube embeds use Google's privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain, but this does not make YouTube part of Shopify or remove Google's independent processing. You can continue to use the rest of the store without loading an external video.
Third-party links
The Services may link to websites or platforms operated by third parties. Their privacy and security practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for the privacy, security, accuracy or availability of unaffiliated third-party services merely because the store links to them.
Information posted in public or semi-public areas, including third-party social platforms, may be visible and used by others. Do not publish information that you do not want to make public.
International transfers
Shopify, readers and other service providers may process or store personal information outside the country where you live. Where UK or European law requires it, we and our providers rely on an adequacy decision, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or another recognised safeguard.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have rights to:
• request access to personal information held about you;
• request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
• request deletion of personal information;
• request restriction of processing;
• object to processing based on legitimate interests;
• receive certain information in a portable format;
• opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising where those concepts apply;
• withdraw consent where processing relies on consent; and
• complain to a data-protection authority.
In the United Kingdom, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. In the European Economic Area, you may contact the supervisory authority in the country where you live or work.
To exercise a right, contact us using the privacy email above. We may need to verify your identity and authority before acting. You may be able to appoint an authorised agent where applicable law permits. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Shopify handles certain rights requests relating to processing for which it is responsible through the Shopify Privacy Portal (https://privacy.shopify.com/).
If you provide information about another person, only do so with their knowledge and permission. For a child-related report, the purchaser must be the parent, guardian or otherwise authorised to provide the child's information.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we use personal information, please contact us first using the privacy email above so that we can investigate. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to appeal a decision we make about a privacy request or complain to your local data-protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Services, providers, practices or legal obligations. We will publish the revised policy, update the "Last updated" date and provide any additional notice required by law.
